DOUGLAS MORRIONE
Director - Photographer - Storyteller
Douglas Morrione (B.A., Colby College, M.A., The Newschool for Social Research) is an award-winning filmmaker, director, and photographer.
Currently based in Dubai, his work has been broadcast internationally on major networks, including HBO, ESPN, NBC, and PBS for decades, and his films are in worldwide distribution.
Doug also served on the faculty of media studies programs in Manhattan—particularly courses in editing for film and documentary production at NYU and The Newschool.

When he's not out practicing his skills as a photographer, Doug runs his production company, Route 201 Media LLC, based in NYC and Dubai.

His most recent film, Fairways to Happiness, followed experts and expats from across the globe as they guided viewers on the complex journey to contentment. Inspired by his relocation to the UAE—the first country to appoint a federal minister of happiness—Douglas interviewed expats and UAE nationals about what it takes to lead a more content, meaningful and satisfying life.
Fairways to Happiness follows the director's non-fiction film about American cowboys and the history of the West: Everything in the Song is True, which opened to critical acclaim on the international festival circut, garnering awards for Best Documentary (Chicago), People’s Choice (Rockport), and the World Cinematography Award from the Amsterdam Film Festival.
Doug moved from New York to Dubai with his wife in 2014 and soon welcomed their first daughter, followed by their second, both born in the UAE. His work in the MENA region has included collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, Department of Health, Masdar Institute, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and the Saudi Red Sea Global initiative, among other clients in the public and private sector.
